Natural Trail Ride Event is Held in Arkansas.
PLEASE NOTE: Eligible states are Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, and Louisiana.

Natural Trail Ride Competition Event IS NOT an endurance ride /Repeat/ IS NOT an endurance ride, or a timed event.
THE RIDE is approximately 2 miles long, will have 9 to 13 judged stations throughout the trail. It consists of crossing logs without touching them, gait changes from walk to lope, lope to walk. Stops, starts, ravine crossings, and a host of other things. This event trail goes where a horse would go on its own. Many events do things a horse would not do naturally. That's fine, but it is not what this event is.


Date: Arrive in the afternoon of June 6th. Competition Ride morning of June 7th, 2025: Note, contestants, bring your generator. There are open air pens for horses, 15.00 per night, while they last. There will be tie lines as well. We supply water for horses, so bring your water tubs.
This event takes place in Crawford County, Arkansas.


After a charitable event donation by a private party of $30 per contestant, entry fee is $170.00. Sign up early and receive a 20.00 discount making the entry fee $150.00
This is a limited number trail ride contestant event. It is advised to enter early to secure your slot.
Royal Wade Kimes and Big V Feed of McAlester, Oklahoma, have teamed up to bring this exciting competition trail ride event to life!
The event is being held on a privately owned mountain horse trial.
We must and will keep the number of riders/horses at a limit, to complete the contest in a timely fashion. So, enter early to be sure and secure your spot.


Arrive Friday to register and pick up your contestant number/information. The competition ride will begin early Saturday morning and end Saturday afternoon. Winners will be announced by end of day. Contestants may leave thereafter or next morning. Water is supplied for horses.


Horses must be at least 3 years old and up, and in good shape: No Stallions allowed.
Have Coggins/health papers when you arrive.
No riders below 16 years of age can compete. Riders 16 and 17 must have parents on premises and will give written consent and sign a release for their child to participate.


Contestants must wear long-sleeved shirts with collars and must dress nicely. (Photographer will be on the grounds and trail.) Hat, western style boots, jeans, riding pants, chaps, spurs, vest, slickers. Helmets are allowed. Only caps with no wording or advertising on them can be worn. T-shirts, tank tops, shorts, flipflops, or any other type of footwear other than western style boots are not allowed. You will be asked to change or be disqualified and forfeit the entry fee in the event of refusal. This is a first-class event and must be treated as such by one and all.


Tack must be in good condition. Bits and hackamore bridles are accepted. Mechanical hackamores are not allowed. Rough wire or severe twisted snaffle bits are not allowed. Leather, synthetic, and smooth flat chain curbs only. No standing or running martingales allowed. Draw reins are not allowed. Splint boots are allowed. If judges deem a piece of equipment to be dangerous, cruel, or gives unfair advantage to other riders, he or she will be asked to remove it. Refusal is a disqualification, and contestants forfeit the entry fee.


Horses must be shod. No barefoot horses allowed. Boots on horses are allowed. If your horse were to lose a boot and while replacing the boot, you have lost your place in line, points are deducted.
No horse can show twice in the event. (Meaning, if you make your ride, no one else can ride that horse to show. Nor can you ride a horse that has already participated in the event)
No gag bits of any style are allowed.
In the event of a tie. A short trail runoff will be held.

If you bring a dog, you must always keep it on a leash at your trailer. Clean up after your pet. No exceptions.

BELOW IS A LOOK AT WHAT NATURAL MEANS ON THIS BEAUTIFUL TRAIL COMPETITION EVENT: The ride is a trail of natural obstacles. Crossing logs without any hoof touching the logs, without jumping the logs.
Gait changes from walk to lope, lope to walk.
Starts and stops. Must start in a gait for that particular station which could be, WALK or immediate LOPE or JOG
Ravine crossings, done in a calm, correct manner.
Each competition rider leaves 3 to 4 minutes apart.
And a host of other natural things we do when we ride horses.
We have open air pens (first come first serve - 15.00 per day) We also have ties.
Bring a generator.
Water is provided for your horse at where your horse is. SO, bring your water tub.
Arrive early afternoon on 6th to get your number/info etc. The event starts. 8:30 a.m.
We do not provide food.
